The vineyard

The "Vouvray" Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) extends over 2,200 hectares around Vouvray, passing through Rochecorbon, Vernou-sur-Brenne, Chançay, Parçay-Meslay, Reugny, Noizay, Sainte-Radegonde (Tours), and Monnaie.

This AOC produces only white wines, using a single grape variety: Chenin Blanc, or Pinot de Loire. The wines can be sparkling or still. They are further classified as dry, semi-dry, or sweet depending on their sugar content. To explore the vineyard, take the small paths that wind through the vines: from there, you'll have a wonderful view of the gently rolling region. To round off your trip, stop by a winemaker who offers tastings and wine sales on site (call ahead).

Cultural heritage

The stone

Tours, Amboise, Chenonceaux, Azay-le-Rideau, Chinon… It's a difficult choice, given the high concentration of grand châteaux here. Within a few kilometers, world-renowned monuments are found side by side!

However, other, more secretive sites can be visited around Vouvray: chapels, churches, priories, cloisters, dovecotes, winegrowers' huts, and more.

Parks and gardens

There's something for everyone! Tomato Conservatory at Château de la Bourdaisière in Montlouis, Rose Village in Chédigny, Leonardo da Vinci's Garden of Inventions at Clos Lucé in Amboise, gargantuan works of art at Château du Rivau, remarkable species at the Tours Botanical Garden... The list goes on!

The Loire just a few steps away...

Natural heritage

The unmissable Loire, majestic and wild, can be followed along the quays at Rochecorbon, or discovered more intimately by small hiking trails starting from Vouvray. The beaches (Métairie at La-Ville-aux-Dames) and the islands (large and developed – the Île d'Or at Amboise, Île Simon or Aucard at Tours or smaller and wilder, to be discovered with caution by boat) are characteristic of these emblematic landscapes.

Some addresses to discover the Loire differently!

Don't hesitate to stop by the Vouvray or Montlouis Tourist Office, where you'll find valuable advice for exploring the entire region.
